The Spirit of Giving

The Spirit of Giving

Earlier this month, Net Atlantic employees teamed up with the Salem High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC (MCJROTC) once again to take part in their Toys for Tots Program. We had such a great turnout last year that we wanted to get involved once more, embracing the opportunity to give back to the community and spread holiday cheer through the spirit of giving. And thanks to the generosity of Net Atlantic employees, our Volunteer Committee was able to amass over fifty toys to be given to local children of all ages! When the Salem High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC came to pick up the toys, we made it a bit of an occasion with photos, small speeches, laughter and merriment. In the end, they walked away hefting two large boxes filled to the brim with many, many playthings.

Toys for Tots began in 1947, when the wife of a Marine Officer made a doll and could not find an avenue to distribute it to a needy child. A national effort by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves to collect toys for under privileged children began through the Marine Officers efforts. Today, about 4 million children a year now receive the gifts, collected from gas stations, malls and offices all over the country.

This holiday season, why not bring a smile to a young child’s face and participate in the Toys for Tots Program in your community! No matter where you live, you can contribute to your local Toys for Tots campaign in several ways. You can donate online at www.toysfortots.org, drop a toy at one of the many toy drop locations in your area, or host a “Toys for Tots” event at your home or office before December 25th.

After all, believing in the magic of the holiday season makes it the most wonderful time of the year!
